MR. W. F. BUCKLAND. M.H.R., AND MR. H. McILHONE.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,l have before me your issue of this morning, purporting to contain a report of the proceedings in the House of Representatives last evening. A portion of that report has reference to myself, wherein Mr. Buckland is reported to have said that I was refused a license for a hotel in the Auckland district. If W. F. Backland has used the words imputed to him by vour correspondent he has been guilty of making a statement which is wholly untrue, and in my opinion is nothing more or less than a wicked and malicious lie, and quite unbecoming any person who has any claim to be a representative of an Auckland constituency. lam fully aware that Mr. Buckland in this matter, as in many others, has only been made a tool of by a more cunning and designing party, and for purposes which will be very apparent as time goes on. Suffice for me to state that I have held a publican's license at the Thames, Wanganui, and Auckland, and that W. F. Buckland lies when he states that I was refused a publican's license in the Auckland district. By the action of Mr. Buckland and those acting with him they have been the means of depriving me of a Government position, thereby leaving a large family unprovided for.—l am, &0., Hugh Mollhone, Auckland, June 4.
