A MAN SUFFOCATED IN A WELL.

[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Hawkra, Friday. A shocking fatality occurred here this morning, by which Joseph McWilliams, aged twenty-two, lost his life. Deceased, who was brother-in-law to Mr. ,A. A. Fantham, had been sinking a well on the farm of the latter, and this morning was lowered into the well without being tied. He let go his hold before reaching the bottom—having bean overpowered by gas. Strenuous efforts have been made for several hours to reach the body, but they have bsen of no avail. There is a seam of lignite at the bottom of the well, which is eighty feet deep. There have been no previous indications of any danger.
