SUDDEN DEATH AT WAIPU.

A sad case of a very sudden death happened here on Sunday evening, the 14th inst., when Mr. Murdoch McGregor, of Mill Brook, was found dead in the paddock near hie house. The deceased was in his usual good health that morning, and oartook of a hearty breakfast. His daughter, besides hia wife, were the only members of his family at home at the time. The deceased was seen by hia wife taking his walk in the paddock a short distance from the house, and, not putting in an appearance, she went in search of him, when he was found in the field quite dead. The bereaved wife's orien for help attraoted the attention of the neighbours. A magisterial inquiry waa held before Mr. M. McLeod, J.P., aa to the cause of death. The deceased gentleman was 72 years of age ; was born in Nova Scotia, and emigrated to New Zealand in 1856, and settled at Waipu where he was highly respected for his unobtrusive and gentle ways. He leaves a widow and a family of four, two sons and two daughters, to mourn their loss. The funeral took place on the 16th inst. His remains were followed to their last restingplace by a large number of people. Mr. Channon read the burial service.—[Own Correspondent, March 20. |
