MR. GLOVER'S TEMPERANCE MISSION.
Tub Temperance lecturer, Mr. Glover, arrived yesterday by the Tongariro, and was met when the vessel came alongside the wharf by Mr. J. Newman, President of the JSew Zealand Alliance, Mr. A. Cox, Secretary of the Goapel Temperance Miaeion, Messrs. F. G. Ewington, R. Neal, Trernaine, Tudehope, Longbottom, Long, and other Temperance workers, and drives up to the lodgings secured for Mr. Glover, near the Choral Hall. During Mr. Glover's stay in Wellington he had an interview with. Sir William Fox, who came to meet him, and Sir William expressed his regret that he was unable to come on to Auckland to the Temperance Mission to be opened here. Mr. Glover will to-day set about selecting a home for his wife and family, as ho likes Auckland and its climate, and intends to settle them here while engaged on his mission work throughout the colony. To-morrow evening he will be accorded a public reception at the Theatre Royal, when Mr. Joseph Newman will preside, aud the representatives of the various Temperance organisations are expected to assist. Mr. Glover will speak on " The Principles and Aims of the New Zealand Alliance." The day aftor the Auckland mission is ended (Thursday, 16th instant) Mr. Glover will start for Wellington, and expects to be in time to influence public opinion with regard to the licensing elections there. The Rechabitea and Good Templars are requested by advertisement in our columns to assemble on Saturday next at the junction of Wellington and Hobson-streets, at two p.m., to take part in the Temperance Demonstration to be held in the Metropolitan Ground. It is expected that a large number of members of both orders will be present on this occasion.
