COMMERCIAL.

New Zealand Hxbald Office, Thursday evening. The Cuatomi receipts on to-day were £3188 la lid. Business daring the past week has been somewhat quiet, which, in a measure, may be accounted for from the faot that the attention of the merchants has been occupied by the departure of the mail, via San Franoiaco, for home. The country orders have been coming in steadily, but in the majority of inatanoes they have only been for the supplying of immediate wants. In the flour and (train markets a fair consumptive derun*d has been experienced, but prices remain unchanged. In the open markets a fair business has been noticeable, and prices generally have been satisfactory to the vendor. Excepting the arrival of the ship Crusadi r, from London, the arrivals and also the departures have not been of special moment, they being chiefly confined to intercolonial and int a> provincial vessels. In regard to dairy produoe, an advance has taken place in fresh butter from the best dairies, which is now Is 3d per lb. wholesale, and Is 6d per lb. retail. Ezgs remain as last week, at Is 9d per 3o«en wholesale, and 2s per dozen retail.
