SHOOTING MATCH OF AUCKLAND REPRESENTATIVES.
[by telegraph—own correspondent.] Gisborne, Saturday. The Te Anau arrived at two p.m. The volunteer representatives landed and proceeded to the rifla range under command of Captain Mabou. Captain Winter, of the J Battery Artillery, was waited on by Captain Mahon and Lieutenant Osborne, and kindly placed the range at the disposal of the competitors, and provided them with ammunition and a marker gratuitously. Sides were picked by Lieutenants Osborne and Lucas. The ranges were 200 and 500 yards. The firing was as follows :—Lucas's side : Newdick, 42; Lucas. .41 ; Thomas, 40; Infills, 39; Webster, 37; Downey, 34; Warren, 25; •Allen ; ,1 l l3 *'''' ? total, 271. Jsborne's side : Parslow, 39.; Osborne. 39; Hawk, 38 ; Donner, 35 ;..Stirling, 34; Leigh, 33; .Henderson, 27;.Patter a00) 26 : total, 271. The contest thus resulted in a tie. The shooting Was very considering that several of the competitors had suffered very severely from sea-sickness. After the match three hearty cheers were given by the representatives for Captain Winter and members of J Battery.
