FIRES.
Gisbobne, Saturday.—A fourteen-roomed house at Waikaue, owned and occupied by Mrs. Harris and family, has been totally burned down. Insurance £500, in the New Zealand Insurauce Office. The loss is considerably greater. The origin is unknown. CHEisTCHURCn, Sunday.—A twelve-roomed wooden house in Gloucester-street, belonging to William Moir, of Styx Mill, and occupied by Mrs. Tindall as a boarding-house, was burned down between nine and ten last night. No one was in when the fire occurred. It is stated that a kerosene lamp was left burning in tho house. Both Moir and Mrs. Tindall were out of town, . so the insurances cannot accurately be ascertained. Tha furniture is said to be insured for £200 in the Colonial Office. The building is reported to be insured in the New Zealand Office.
