WESLEYAN DISTRICT MEETING.
The record of Tuesday's work was read at the forenoon session yesterday by the Secretary, after exercises led by Revs. Whewell and Carr. Memorials from the Grafton-road and Worth Shore Circuits, to the effect that students should be allowed to remain their full term at college. The matter was ordered to be forwarded to Conference for consideration. Several country circuit ministers brought forward objections to the resolutions of Wesley College Committee, that the students should in future do no Sunday work in country circuts. They were asked to state these objections in writing to the Secretary of the committee. The Secretary brought up the report of the committee on affairs connected with the native work. It was resolved, " That, in the opinion of this meeting the requirements of our work are such that a Maori minister cannot be spared at present from this district for the work, in Taranaki ; bat that one of the Maori ministers be released for a period of two or three months to visit Waikato and Taranaki under the direction of Bro. Gittos." It was-de-cided in regard to Maori probationers that Kameka, Hori te Kuri, Wi Warena Pewa, and'M. L. Waiti be examined in writing and orally, and thaf, subject to the examinations proving satisfactory, be recommended to Conference for ordination in the district ; also that Hauraki Paul and Piripi Bakena be similarly examined, and, subject to a satisfactory examination, that they pass in their years.—On the motion of Rev. A. Reid, it was resolved that the Conference be recommended to appoint a probationer to Raglan next year.—On the motion of Rev. J. Dukes it was resolved to recommend to Conference that the subject of Methodist polity be added to the curriculum of the students at Wesley College.—The meeting adjourned till half-pant two p.m. On resuming hymn 739 was sung and prayer was offered by Mr. Bamford. Most of the session was occupied with the oral theological examination of the probationers completing their fourth year. The Revs. W. G. Parsonson, J. T. Pinfold, and W. Slade underwent a lengthened examination by the Chairman, at ks conclusion the brethren were unanimously recommended for ordination at the forthcoming Conference. The remaining time was occupied in preparing business to be brought before the financial District Meeting which opens this morning at half-past nine. Circuit Stewards, Treasurers of Connexional Funds, and other officials arc" expected to attend.
