ONEHUNGA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Ait adjourned meeting of the Council was held on Monday evening. Present : The Mayor (Dr. Seott), Messrs. Hills, Jackson, Robinson, Shaldrick, and Yatoa. Bock Obstruction.—The Mayor moved, " That the Engineer' be instructed to prepare plans, &c., for the removal of a large piece of rock obstructing half the road in Church-street." —Mr. Jackson said this would be an expensive work, and was proposed at the request of the owner of adjoining property, who had offered to pay half the cost. He, therefore, moved as an amendment, "That the work should be undertaken as soon as the applicant gave a satisfactory security for his portion of the expenre."— The amendment was accepted and agreed to. Blue Metal.—lt was agreed to accept any quantity of locally-broken blue metal at -5s a cubic yard. Mangere Bridge.—ln reply to an explanation for certain necessary repairs to Mangere Bridge, the Minister of Public Works wrote that the bridge had been put under the control of the Council Eome years ago.—A reply was ordered to the effect that at the time referred to the Council had expressed their readiness to take charge of the bridge on certain terms, and that to this proposal the Government had vouchsafed no reply, bat the Council is still willing to adhere to the proposal then made. It was agreed to inform the Mangere Road Board, that district having the largest interest in the matter, of the action taken. Correction. —The vote of thanks accorded at the last meeting of the Council for the action taken with reference to the Harbour Board Bill was passed to Mr. Hamlin, and not Mr. Tole as reported.
