The drive on the black reef is making good progress. The country is excellent. Jcst-in-Tike are getting payable stuff from botK-winzes on No. land 2 reefs, but nothiog rich has been obtained. Albion are making splendid progress driving at-the SO feet level. The country is very good; but needs timbering all the -way. A survey is to be made to decide how far it is to the big reef* which prospected so well on he 1 surface. Ukite^— The manager is testing a very nice-looking leader got on the crown of the hHIi j (Mod prospects are being obtained. Kapanga are getting splendid specimens from Scotty's reef. Tbe general Btuff is also very good. No rich haul bas been obtained, but from.appearances the reef may be got any time. Cobby are getting fair stuff from the Btopes, and the main face is getting ahead on a first-rate reef. TokaTEA. —There is nothing new from this mine. The main low level is still very hard, and progress is slow. Tributers McNeill and party are getting out good crushing and a few rich specimens from the stopes. Maiawai are getting a very large paddock of good quartz on hand, and, considering the quantity of picked stone, the reef in the low level looks very straight, and is turning out good crushing stuff. The upper workings are also very good. Vizard have crushed 19 tons for 53ozs. of gold; 3 tons of which yielded 27ozs. from small leaders# Thames, Thursday evening. London.—Breaking-down takes place tomorrow. Cambria. —Some of the reef in the winze will be broken down to-morrow. It is reported that an amalgamation between the Darwin and Cambria (on the basis of Darwin 4a, Cambria Is 6d per share) is mooted. The project does not meet with the favour of the Cambria shareholders I have spoken to.
