WAIKATO DISTRICT NEWS.

[by tklkgkaph.—own correspondents.] Hamilton, Wednesday evening. Tde n'3w school building for the Roman Catholic here, is nearly completed. The district schools will probablj lose several scholars when this new school is opened. The manse for the Presbvterian minister is being rapidly constructed, in the rear of the church.

On the application of Mr. Seaman, of North Shore, a protection order was granted to Mrs. Wells, his niece, against her husband and his creditor?. Wells was a Tuhikaramea settler, and secretary and collector to the-Tu-hikararnea and Newcastle Road Boards, and has disappeared for the past mouth or more. The goods and property protected were purchased with money belonging to the wife.

A meeting of the creditors of Arekatcra was held to-day. Present: The representative of the Pate tore Company and two others. The former held a considerable number oi' proxies. A lengthy dispute arose on the question of appointing a chairman, the representative of the Patetere Company preferring one person, and the two creditors another, the latter holding that the proxies could not be used ou a return appointing a chairman. The m-.eting was adjourned. Cambridge, Wednesday evening. The committee of the Weslejan Church have met and approved the plans for the new church here, and tenders will be at once I called for.

A settler, named Wratt, who some two years ago bought M;s. Guran's property, on the Hamilton-road, haa been arrested for wife-desertion, the warrant issuing from Auckland. He was brought before Mr. Win. Searancke, i?nd remanded, and liberated on his own recognisance in the sum of £50. Ngakuawahia, Wednesday evening.

Mrs. T. V. i'itzpatrick died this morning in childbirth, Mr. Fitzpatrick hinuelf, who has been euffering from an attack of conjeation of the luugs, is, I am sorry to say, in a very precarious condition.
