•A commtttkb meeting ~6f ! the North Shore Regatta Club was Tield in the Masonic Hotel, DevonporV.on .Monday evening -for the purpose, principally, of consideruig the class of whaleboats to take part in the forthcoming regatta. -In "compliance : with the'request of several owners of .yachts under foar taba measurement,' a race' for that -class wa3 entered ill the programing' in-" place of No. 3 \ event for boiiajide fishing boats. The- event thus" stands "foryachts and fishing boata; 4 tons -and under." It was 1 also-agreed"that; Nos. 6 and-8 should now also-inclade fishing; boats as well as yachts. The proposed whale-; boat race was taken into consideration, and' the subcommittee "reported that tfie opinions; 'of various builders and ship-masters had betmi * heard bh' the. ad viability : or of having light or heavy built boats. After some discussion, it was "ultimately resolved; that the racing whaleboats should be of a' light description, r aiid not'to exceed 35ft. nor; le3s- ,than 4ft. .beam, - the planking ,to be ! 5-16 in. thick,. and> each boat ,to be steered with one oar. .The nntiridgin their efforts to make the Tegatta a succesa.
