COMMERCIAL SUMMARY.

' SALES BY AUCTION. April 26. At Messrs. B. Tonks ami Co.'s salerooms today, the ongino, boilers, battery, and general plant, &c, of thoUnion Beach gold mino, Ooromandel, were Bold by auctioD, by order of Mr. F. J. Clarke, liquidator of the company. Included in the sale were the licensed holding, comprising SS men's ground (about 30 acres}, winding and pumping engine (35n.p.), CoruUh boilor engine for winding (14h.p.), 15-stamper battery, (driven by 20h.p. engine), patent tubular boiler, special tangeye pump, wharf 80 feet long, with iron tramway, coalshed, change-house, storeroom, emithy, office, three cottages, manager's house, and large building over pumping and winding engine. Mr. J. SI. Lennox was the highest bidder, and the whole was knocked down at £850. A large quantity of groceries and oilmen'u stores were also dispoied of at very satisfactory rates. 680 half-chests and 700 chests of tea were also put up for sale, and about 300 packages woro sold, but the prices realised were rather low. April 22. At Mr. R. Arthur's aale of land ai.d property, held at his auction mart, to-day, the farm—consisting of 450 acres, with dwellinghouse, 4c—atPukerimu, Waikato, was sold for £2280. Three allotments, having frontage to Clarence-etreet and Ponsonby-road, were sold at £5 15s por foot. One allotment of 66 feet, in Paget-stroet, was disposed of as £4 7s Cd per foot. Ono allotment in Pieton-street. of 87 feet, brought 37a per foot. Mr. Charles Goodwin bought a house and allotment for £426. An allotment and residence, at King Terrace, brought £530; one allotment of 73 foot frontage to King Terraee, at £2 Oβ 6d per foot; and a house And allotment in Commercial-road brought £210. Two allotments in the township of Hillsbro brought £7 each. May 2. An auction sale of new furniture, pianos, and oil paintings, was held to-day, at Messrs. B. Tonks and Co.'s sale-rooms. There was a large attendance, and the bidding "w&s animated. The pianos were Bold at from. £35 to £74, and the furniture and oil paintings were disposed of at satisfactory prices. May 4. Mr. Gabriel Lewis held a sale of teas, hops, and a miasellaneous lot of groceries to-day at hia rooms. The attendance was fair, and the prices received for teas were satisfactory, but the other goods brought rather low rates. May 10. Messrs. B. Tonke and Co. held a sale of New England organs at their auction rooms to-day. All the goods were disposed of, and very satisfactory prices were realised. May 11. A large quantity of tweeds, carpets, nmts, ice., was disposed of at Messrs. E. and A. Isaacs' salerooms. There was a large attendance, and very satisfactory prices were realised. May 15. The valuable freehold property at Kingsland, on the New North-road, at present in the occupation of Mr. John McElwain, was put up for sale at Messrs. Cochrane and Son's auction mart to-day. There were numerous buyers, and bidding was at times rather animated. The following allotments were disposed of:—Nos. 1 and 2, £2 7» por foot; 3, £2 ;4, with cottage thereon, £135; lots 5, 6, and 7, £1 14* per foot; 4, 5, and 6, 17s ; 51, 52, 100, and 101, £1 2s ; 102, 103, 147, and 148, 15* ; 104, 105, 106, lOe 6a ; 75, £l Is ; 76, £1; T4 and 124, 16s ; 48, £1; 49 and 50, £1 4s ; 54, 16». At Messrs. B, Tonks and Co.'s salerooms today, a 14-inch nn<? a 20-inoh hawser were disposed of under the hammer at £35 each. Ma? 16. A ealo of sixtj years* leases of allotment! in the pstato of Mr. K. Stephens was bold to-day at Messrs. Cochrane and Son's auction rooms. Allotment 36 was eold at £10 per annum, 52 at £12 10e, 53 at £10, and 54 at £7 10s. A cottage recently occupied by the late David Clements was sold by Mr. K. C. Greenwood today for £140, subject to a second mortgage. May 17. At Messrs. Cochrane and Son's auction rooms o. s&lo of property situated at Onebunga, part of the lato Colonel Kenny's estate, was submitted. The attendance was very fair and prices satisfactory, though no extraordinary rates were realised. Allotment No. 2, la lr 28>, brougkt £130; No. 3. In 2r 9p, £140 ; Nβ. 7. U3r Sp, £190; No. 6, la lr IBp, £140 ; No. 9, 2a Or £200; No. 10, 2a 2r lip, £250—the average price being £98 per acre for unimproved sections. Messrs. E. and A. Lu:ics held a very oiUbsive sale of red and white lead, linsetd oil, window glaen, scrim, kc. t to-day. A large lot , of the goods were quitted in trade linos, but owing to the overstocked state of the markit very low prices were realised. The proceeds of the sals amounted to from between £750 and £SOO. A large sale of general drapery goods and clothing was held at Mr. Gabriel L»wi»' sale rooms to-day, when ngarly all lines offered were disposed of. The attendance was fair, and |;ood prices were obtained.
