HEW PLYMOUTH, Wednesday. To-day is observed as a geueral holiday, owing to the friendly, temperance, and other societies uniting and holding their sports at Glenavon. The total revenue collected by the Customs at the port of Napier is £362'2, showing an increase of £SS4 over the corresponding month of last year. Owing to the inclemency of the weather the Bacing Club's races arc postponed. A meeting of persons interested in the formation of a Chamber of Commerce is called for the 18th instant.

WELLINGTON, Wednesday. The offences return tor the Wellington district for ISSI, recently completed, shows a total decrease iu the number of offences, as compared with the return for ISSO, of /4. In ISSO the number of offences reported reached 1441 ; in ISSI, 1303. The numbers committed for trial were respectively 4 / and 34; sumarily convicted, 97S and Jil ; discharged, 243 and 210, aud the total liunikr of persons apprehended amounted to I_SS in ISSO, and 1211 in ISSI. From the return for ISSI are excluded, however, the summons cases belonging to a class that was included in the previous reports, such as lunacy cases, which cannot strictly be regarded as of a crimiualnaturc. 1n1551,357 cases of drunkenness were reported, being a decrease or 11 upon the previous year ; 159 eases of larceny, a decrease of 23 ; common assaults, J.J, a decrease of IG. On the other hand were 44 breaches of the peace, or an increase of / as compared with ISSO ; 23 offenccs against the Gaming Act, an increase of 22 ; oh offences a«ainst tlic Licensing Act, an increase of -o ; 56 offences against the Shipping and Seamen's Act, an increase of 3S ; offences against the Stamp Act, 15, an increase ot 15 ; and vagrancy, 63, an increase of 12 in tile WeLliagtou district.
