Titokowaru is suffering from asthma. A New Plymouth paper says it is not Tarauaki but Wanganui -which is the leech of tli2 colony. Mr. J. B. Steele, actor, is playing at the Queen's Theatre, Sydney, as Claud Melnotte, in " The Lady of Lyons." Sergeant Me jrath, of Auckland, has been appointed to the Thames station, vice Sergeant Mulviile, tarnsferred. A pamphlet is published in Sydney, entitled "Startling Disclosures about the Chinese," in which an account is given of their process of immigration and system of freemasonry. The New Zealand Times is in a rage with Mr. Andrews for moving that next session should be held in Christchurch. In speaking of him as the hem. member, it in a leading article puts a query (?) after lion. The members of tho Katikati Loyal Orange Lodge celebrated the 12th of July with a social gathering at the residence of Mr. Lockington, Uretara, who had placed his house at the disposal of the lodge for that purpose. It may be of interest to many to know thatthe "standard " weights and measures have been received back from Wellington, and Sergeant Gamble, inspector of weights and measures, is now in a position to test weights and measures for traders. The Loyal Orange Institution of New South Wales was to give a grand entertainment at the Exhibition Buildings, Sydney, on the 12th July. Among the gentlemen to deliver addresses on the occasion, we notice the name of the Rev. Thomas Forsaith, formerly of Auckland. The Samoa Times records the celebration of the festival of Corpus Christi, at the church of the French mission at Apia, and says : —" We must confess our ignorance as ,to what the processions, the genuflexions, the swaying of incense-holders, aud the other parts of the performance symbolize, but as a spectacle to attract the attention of the natives, we have no doubt it has the desired effect." ■ ■..'-.-.
