KußAXUl.—Tlie company's battery is now working full time. The mine and tributers are producing so much crushing stuff that it is necessary to keep the battery going constantly in order to dispose of it. James and party, who are tributing in the mine, have crushed 9 tons ;of quartz for the poor return of 4 ounces 17 dwts. of gold.

6i.D Caledonian.—l have taken down about Iβ feet of No, 2 reef, in winze, No. 3 level. It is about 3 feet.6 inches in width ; thehangingwall portion, about one foot in thickness, Is almost a mass of mineral. The other portion is composed of a bluish quartz, and well mineralised, but no gold has been seen in it. The whole that has been broken down is now in the hopper awaiting to bocrushed: The No. 2 reef, No. 1 level cross-cut, has been gone into 8 feet. In the roof of tho drive it is still rery hard and troublesome It is charged with eood minerals, and now in the face the. quartz is getting blaoker, which is not a bad indication. The quartz which has been broken from this reef has a kindly appearance, though no gold his been seen, acd; I belieyo it carries gold ; whether in payablo quantities or not I shall prove by sending a trial to the mill.--T.
