RAILWAY MISMANAGEMENT.

[BY TELEORAPH. —OWX CORRESPONDENT.] CnßiSTcnmicii, Friday. The following paragraph from this morning's Lyttelton Times will give some idea of the way in which the railway tariff is working here:—" Messrs. Murray and Forbes have undertaken the freight of a large parcel of grain from Fernside to Amberley. They are successfully competing with the Railway Department, as they have found it to pay them very well to cart the grain with their wagons at a less price than is charged by the railway." Fernside and Amberley are stations a few miles apart on the lino north of Cliristchurch.
