EASTER REVIEW.
One of the finest parades that hae taken place since the formation of the Auckland Rifle Battalion was held in the Drill-shed yesterday evening. Upwards of 150 men men were present, and were formed into six companies, under the command of Major Derrom, who put the battalion through a variety of movements, wheeled them into line broke into column to the right, a number of deployments, marching past in quarter column, moving in echelon, square from echelon, receiving cavalry in line, countermarching at the halt and on the march. Volley-firing by half-battalions and companies was correctly executed, as was the volley-firing in line, which drew from the commanding officer a word of commendation. And we must compliment the men on the steadiness they exhibited in the ranks ; also on the absence of the chattering which usually takes place in the ranks. No doubt they begin to feel that Auckland's credit is in their hands, and if they cannot boast, like their Thames comrades, of burly physique, they intend to show them what steadiness and obedience in the ranks will do.
