[from our ourx correspondent.] Gbahamstown, Monday. THE VOLUNTEER REVIEW. The proposed volunteer encampment am review in the Waikato during the Eaate holidays is occupying the whole of the at tention of our volunteers. During the laa few weeks those companies that have decide to take part in the review have been mos assiduous in their attention to drill, and th drill-instructors have spared no pains i waking the men as smart as possible. Nc thing that is likely to -be wanted in cam life ha 3 been forgotten, and each man has re ceived explicit instructions as to what he i to take with him. The officers have en deavoured to impress upon the men the ne cessity of going prepared for any kind c ■weather. S<f far as the Thames contiogen is concerned the officers are doing all the; can to make the expedition a success. Ever little matter of detail has received attention and to avoid as far as possible any hitcl occurring, two officers will be despatched t> Te Awamutu to complete the arrangement prior to the men arriving on the scene of thi encampment. The Rifle Rangers have de cided to remain at home, but the Nava Brigade, Scottish Battalion, Engineers, am Natives, will all be well represented, ant will, together muster about 400 men. Thi Naval Brigade purpose taking their big gun: with them. . The main body of the Thame: Volunteers leave here at 6.30 a.m. 01 Friday, but many will avail themselves o the boat on Thursday evening, so that then will be no undue crowding. ROAD WORKS. . The county authorities are busily engagec pushing forward the surveys in connectioi with the works, for which grants wer< promised by the hon. Mr. Rolleston durin; his late visit to the Thames. The authoritie! are desirous of making the most of the fini weather, and are very anxious to have thi contracts for these works let as soon a possible. The roads are urgently needed and ought to have been constructed lonj ago, but as the resources of the county havi been strained to the utmost limit, it ha been impossible to do more to the road which are now about to be formed. HOTEL AT PURIRI. Ehrenfried Brothers are about to erect : large and commodious hotel at Puriri, on th Thames-Ohinemuri road. The greater por tion of the timber is already on the ground and a gang of men are busy digging a room; cellar. The hotel, when completed, wil contain fourteen rooms.
