Penguin has been detained at Wellingtgn for the convenience of the Southern rifle representatives, who leave here by the Tararua. A fire broke out to-day iu the shop of Woods, tailor, of Port Chalmers, but it was extinguished before much damage was done. The owner alleges that he loses £45 n. money. rNTERCAEGILL, Saturday, A large meeting of the representatives of farmers of the Southland district was held in Sloane's Hotel to-day to inaugurate a Farmers' Co-operative Association for the disposal of farm produce. A provisional directory was nominated, and a joint secretary appointed. The enterprise may be said to have been fairly started.
