Mr. Fallowdown asked permission to crossexamine the retiring chairman (Major Stoney) relative to the lavish expenditure of the money (£5) allowed to the children for cleaning the school-room during the year, and although the annual fute was subsidized by a similar amount for prizes by the teacher, and a considerable outlay on "the entertainment after by the Chairman, he still contended in a very warm manner that the children should not be permitted to dispute the Chairman, and expend this money for them, which, however, had always been the case, and on this occasion gave general satisfaction, as was explained by the Major. He (Mr. Fallowdown) called for a vote of censure, which was not put to the meeting, and it is insisted that the i6te was not for the friends of the children but for strangers to the district from Kaukapakapa, Pulioi, and Waiwera. Mr. Hatfield supported Mr. Fallowdown, and moved, " That, in future, the outlay of the £5 allowed to the children should be vested, for its expenditure, in the hands of the committee." Rather a novel way for granting money for work done, and tlien controlling its outlay. A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the proceedings, after the election of a new committee by ballot.— [Correspondent, AVade.J
