Mr. R. J. Feltuß writes :—" Don't you think that the totalisera are sufficiently punished? They may be guilty. It is a caution to the public not to spend their money on a racecourse. The public have done their duty. I£ a swindle was perpetrated, the Court awarded it, aud I believe it was done ; by whom I know not. Under the circumstances, the quality of mercy may not be strained by a short imprisonment, as a warning to all gamblers." It has now been proved that the gas stoves aold by the Gas Company (Walker's patent) are the greatest boon of the times, more especially when adopted in families where tho domestic institu lion is unknown or away. It relieves the_ often overworked wife from menial duties, and saves much valuable time for higher work. Every husband should consider what a change would be made if there were no coals or wood to be carried, no ashes to be removed, causing damage to clothing and furniture; but in place of this, gas, which may be lighted as soon as thought of, and extinguished as readily. Think of meals served to time without trouble, annoyance, and vexation of spirit; the joint of meat roasted on Sunday without the necessity for any person remaining at home. An independent household !1! Over 150 gas stores in use in Auokland. Over 100 sold by the Gas eompany in a few months. Price, complete, £4 5s II!
