VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
COMPETITION FOR ARTILLERY COMPANY'S CHAMPION BELT. The annual competition for the company's champion belt of the Auckland Artillery took place on Saturday last ;'at the Mount Eden Rifle Range, under the supervision of Lieutenant Norrie, when Gunner Henderson (the winner last year) was again successful in placing the coveted trophy to his credit. Before the competition took place, Gunner Henderson very liberally announced bis intention o£ presenting two prizes—one to the second man, and one to the third, the winners being allowed to Belect any article to the value of the amount giveD. When Gunner .Henderson won the belt last year his score was 9G. This year he comes near to the same number, having made 94 points in the two competitions. In the first match, 29 men fired; but in the second, only 11 put in an appearance at the range. The following are the
