RIFLE ASSOCIATION'S ANNUAL PRIZE FIRING.

The anntial competition for tho prizes for th'o Auckland Rifle Association, took place yesterday; at the Mount Eden range. The firing was conducted by Major Morrow. The matches were arranged as follow, viz. : —Ist Match, Mr Beck's Cap; 2nd match, the Evening Star Cup ; 3rd match, Dr. Campbell's vase. There were also three money prizes for the three highest scorers in each match, and three for the highest aggregate scores. The following is a complete list of the scores in each match :— FIRST MATCH—MR. BECK'S CtJP.

It appears that the rules of the Assoiiation provide that the winner of the trophy must be an efficient Volunteer, aud Shaw not being efficient, the prize must go the next highest scorer (Allen), tlowever, this is to be decided at-a general meeting of the Association) to be. held on Tuesday next, in the drill-shed, at 8 p.m., when all members and others interested in the movements of the Association are invited to be presont.
