The N'cw Zealand Shipping Co.'s ship Waikato was towed out of harbour Inst night, homeward bound to London with numerous passengers and a valuable freight, lho vessel got underweigh from the wharf on the top of slack water, with a fair wind, about 1.30 p.m., but for some reason the pilot did not take her out, and the anchor was let go off the Man -of - war Bay. Numerous comments wore made on tho wharf respecting the manner in which tho vessel was handled, but as the Chief Harbourmaster was on the wharf and witnessed his subordinate's skill, ho will have an opportunity of answering any inquiries that may be made about this matter.
