Since writing the above a hard wall of quartz has been di-covere.i ; the quarts is blue, containing mundic and copper, anl has evity appearance of being the main part of the reef. Three shifts wotk will bo required before this can be broken into. In the rise on No. 2, east from ths slide, the reef is 2 feet thick, ancl looks prruvsing for gold. We have not yet crashed any stuff from here. SO-feet Level : The north having beeu i.-itc-rseoteu, the raaia slide is suspended, and we are driving west on the reef struck in tbis cross cut. Tnis lode is 2J feet thick. li.t-rraediate Ldvil : The leaders here eo frequently intersect eacli other that it is useless detailing them, but I am pleased tu say they are looking very well. Duriug the past fortnight we have crushe 1 31S tous for a yield of 41Oozs. tf retorted gold. The battery will be stopped oh Tuesday next for a overhaul —lioosivr C'j.mek. [rilO.M OUII OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Tll.ous, Tuesday. ALHur.NiA.—There is not much alteration in the stores above the western end of the 70 fe.it level since last Thursday. As has already be?n reported, in the back of these stapes" the of the lode ba 3 come over on to the footwall, and ill consequence there is nothing like the quantity of quartz there was lower down. From the leading stop;; away back eastward for some d stance there is a fine compact ]o(ie, about ',1 feet thick, and til; qu&rtz obtaine.l from this is reiliy excellent crushing dirt. From this lode good parcels of picked stone are ulmi sb daily obtuaed. In '.lie lea'.linf> itope and in the lac 3of the drive gold is ttill showing, and during (he past day or two a considerable quantity of very good picked fctime has been obtained from here. Tim s'.opes have been pushed back cist ward ;.s far as the foot of No 4 wiuz>, and tins t.,til length must hi oousideraMy over 100 feet. Small parcels of picked itou-j are ob'.aiued all alonj* stapes, and almust tho wlvde of tha qiartz broken out is crmhing dirt. From , the indications met with near t'uo No. 4 winze, it is very evident that, as the stopes are worked upwards , , tho gold will be fouud to make still further back to tho eastward of the winze. It will thus be seen that it wi'l yet take some months to work out the oloc'v of ground above tho 7l)-feot level. In the face of the drive the lo.le is a line cmpa.t b'dyof stoue, and looi;s well for gold. On Monday there was a little g >ld showiDg, and on breaking down i:i the evening some very good stone was obtained. The country is of a most favourable description. The drive east on the footwall lode is making fair progies3, but there* is uo chauge in the appearance of the reef. There is no c'lauge whatever in the stope3 above the eastern end of this level. On Uixou's lower level there is an improvement in the face of the cistern drive, and tho reef appears to bo making solid again. In the west drive the reef continues to improve as driven upon. On shooting down the lode on Monday, a fine body of t;old was disclosed, and on breaking up the quartz a few colours of gold were seen. Tlie mineral indications are firstclass, and tiie country ia of first-rate character. The general crushing at the fleiMlil bittery h showing up very well, aud another interim retorting will take place ou Wednesday, which it is expected will produce over OOOuzs. of gold.
