The bankrupt is a. grccer, and came before the creditois to apply for their certiiicate. The paiticulars of tlie estate have already been published. The trustee brought up his report, and made no objection to the bankrupt. The creditors passed the usual resolutiou recommending the debtor's discharge. Re James Vizauu.— the debtor was described as a miner, of Coromandel. A linal meeting in his estate have leeu held on Saturday, but no creditors put in an appearance, and the debtor will Lave to apply to the Judge of the Supreme Court for his discharge, under the lS'lth section of the Act. POLICE COURT.— Saturday. [Deforo 11. U. lUrctotr, Esq., It.M.] Drunkenness. —Jas. Donnelly was brought up charged with drunkenness, and was lined iu the usual penalty. Blasting Rock.—John Howe was charged with a bnach of by-law No. 0, section 15, by blasting rock without a permit from the City Council, near a public place—to wit, the Breakwater Roul, en the 26th November. Defendant pleaded not guilty, and handed a document to Inspector Patdy, who, on examining it, said there appeared to be some inidtake iu this case, as this was a permit, signed by tbe City Surveyor, Mr. Andeison, but not beariug the countersignature of Mr. Philip's, the Town Cltrk, as it should have done. Mr. Philips, who was present, said that it must have escaped Mr. Anderson's in inory that he had signed a permit, as only yesterday be had assured him that none such had ever been issued by him. The signature, howuver, was undoubtedly his. Sub-Inspector Pardy said the permit, even though it was not signed by the Town Clerk, would, of course, be sufficient in law to protect the defendant, and therefore tho present proceeding would have to bo withdrawn, if his Worship would so allow. It was accordingly eo ordered.
