THE NATIVE, MINISTER'S MOVEMENTS.
As intimated elsewhere, the Hon. the Native Minister leaves Auckland for the South this morning by the Btearner Hinemoa, and his further movements will be of great interest to the colony. He will ride through to T.iranaki to attend a meeting of natives at Opunake, in relation to the Waiinata plains. It is anticipated that the claims o£ Titokowaru's people will be considered and settled at this meeting The Waunata plains consist of a large tract of confiscated land between Taranaki and Pntea. Thence Mr Sheehan will proceed to Wauganui, to attend a large native meeting, and thence he will go to Otaki to another native meeting. At the conclusion of the latter, the Hon. Mr. Sheehan will proceed to Wellington, where he will meet Sir George Grey, and then both will go to Wairarapa to meet all the natives of that district. The Native Minister will go thence overland to Napier and Poverty b'ay, proceeding on to Tauranga, and returning to Auckland in 14 days from to-day. The Hon. Mr. Sheehan desires to express his regrot to a number of gentlemen who were to call on him on business to-day, that, in consequence of information he received from the South yesterday, he has to proceed South bv the Hinemoa. this morning. But as intimated above he will return to Auckland in a fortnight, and will then attend to any public business which has not been disposed of during his present visit. On Mr. Sheehan'B return to the province he purposes visiting Kaipara and Hokianga.
