PORT CHALMERS. August 23.—The Columbus, 744 tons, Captain Fs-on, has arrived. She lelt i.ondon on the 27th of May, and crossed the t quator 31 daj s out. Passed the ?*nares on the 16th iustant. Ou "the 17th instaut William Bock, A.8., fell off the royal-yards, and struck the rail, and fell into the sea. Two life-buoys were thrown to th* unfortunate man, but, as he made no effort to grasp them, it was evident he had received his death fiom striking the raiL It was impo sible to round the ship owing to the heavy weather that prevailed. LYTIELTO.V. September 1, noon.—The Akaroa has arrived in harbour with the wreck of the ketch Clematis. She was picked up ueir to the piac* where she was seen by Captain Worsp, of the s.s. Xaupo, on Tuesday night. "WESTPORT. September 9.—A board, seven feet long, painted blue, w th feuuk gilt letters *' Kebroid," was picked up near cape fr'ouiwind. It has ev.dently been part of some vessel, and a long time in the water.
