The usutl fortnightly meeting of the Board - o£ Education, was held yesterday afternoon : in the office, Wyndham-street. Present Messrs. Prime (in the chair), Ball, and.,. Luckie. : Ardmore.—Tlie proclamation of the dis- : trict was agreed to. Pskekohe West.—Action was deferred: - until after the Inspector's visit. WAIOTAHI.—The appointment of Miss Clark to the Thames school was appro ved . r of. », Waipu Upper.—The sum of £6 7b 6d was - granted for desks, &c. Waikiekie.—Consideration was deferred till the building fund is available. Mojtgonttc.—Asking grant of £14 to re- ; move the Orurn school to {a new site.—No - grant can be made unless the site is vested-... in the Board. . .• Ka uwaerakg a.—The appointment of Mr. Field, vice Mr. Mark, resigned, waa approved of. MatakANA. —It was agreed to take over the site for a school at Great Omaha, provided the title be clear and uncomplicated. - Pokeno Hill.—Asking for , £25 for ex- - tending school accommodation. — Deferred.." till in possession of building fnnd. Hakapepe.—Asking for a new district. The number of children in the district being, small, the Board were of opinion that it had better be included in the Alexandra district. ■ Waiotahi. —Recommending thut the assistant teachers' pay be increased. The secretary was instructed to inform the committee that the salaries of pupil teachers can only be fixed according to classification. : Pukeatua. —Messrs. Blucher, Hardy, W. ■Wilson, Jeffs, and Kretshner were appointed . commissioners, and the secretary was desired, to request them to name a date, hour, and. place to hold the meeting for the election of . a new committee. Akatapct.—The appointment of Mr. Chilman, as teacher, was approved of. . . Shoal Bay.—Asking grant of £10 for repairs.—Deferred. Waiuku.—The secretary was requested : to remind the committee that the Whiriwhiri school would be closed at the end of , the present year, and also to write to the committee about Maioro. A sum of £13 was granted to the new Brookside school, for furniture. X'ATKiiANG i.—Tlit; appointment of Mr. . Stevens, as teacher, was approved of. The secretary was empowered to inform the com- - mittee that the Building Fund is not yet in. hand; but, if it were, they conld make nogrants for building purposes unless the site is vested in the Board, and also to requestthem to send a description of the building, and furniture. Pakukanga.—Asking a grant for repairs—Deferred. Maokct.—Asking £120 for a echooL—Deferred. Roles and Regulations. —The rules and. regulations were finally adopted by the Board. Grammar School.—The resignation of . Mr. Curnow, the English master of this, school, on his appointment to the Normal. School in Christchurch, which waa reported, by Mr. McKae.—The Secretary was desired to inform the head-master that the Board, accept Mr. Carnow's resignation with regret at the College and Grammar School being deprived of his valuable services.— The consideration of a letter from Mr. Mcßae relative to prizes was deferred. Riverhead.—A letter was read from Mr. Lamb respecting the proclamation of the district.—Deferred for enquiry as to th«> best way of dealing with this and adjacent districts. WAiiGAREI Heads.—Asking a furthergrant of £10 and payment of an old grant of £15.—Deferred for further information, from the Inspector. Hobsonville.—Asking for a grant of £100 for buildings.—Deferred.
