ST. JOSEPH'S SCHOOL, SHOB.TLAND.
The usual examination of the children attending the Koaian Catholic Schools conducted by the Sisters of Mercy, took place on Tuesday. The Kev. Father Chastagnon presided. There were about ICO children and a great many visitors. The whole of the examinations were most creditably got through bj tbo several elasses, and raiieoted
the care bestowed upon the children by the Sisters of Mercy conducting the school. On Wednesday the ladies' upper school was examined in presence of » 'arge number of parents and others. The proficiency evinced by the pupils in French, drawing, music, and all the higher branches was shewn to great advantage, and prizes were bestowed upon a large number of pupils for almost everything that could well be deemed worthy of merit. The progress made during the past year by this select school was manifest, aud no doubt gratifying to the Sisters of Mercy conducting the school, as it was to the numerous and well-pleased assembly gathered on the occasion. ■•
