[from our own correspondents.] THAMES, Wednesday. The Manukau have lodged 1013 ozs. of retorted gold. The result of about 17 days' crushing, with 17 stampers. 100 tons of their tailings sold to-day at 13s Gd per ton ; Perry, buyer. The Old Wliau obtained some very good gold from the winze on the Black Angel reef, and also from the main lode. The Dauntless and Sink to Rise (Sawyer's tribute) crushed 25 tons for 52 ozs. of melted gold. The Crown Prince got a good patch of specimens right 011 the boundary of the Exchange m ine. The Exchange crushing has maintained its good average the last twenty-four hours. In the face the lode looks better. The Watchman lode looks very well, and promises to sustain at the next crushing a good payable average. The Coliban have another haul of rich stone to-day from the winze. Market dull. Sales : Caledonian, £5 5s ; City of London, 24s 3d. Buyers : Golden Calf (new), 5s ; City of London, 245; Bank of New Zealand, 695. Seager's tender was accepted for the making and riveting of three double-flue boilers for the Bright Smile battery. A trial of the Tapu coal was made to-day, at the Golden Crown battery. 3GO pounds generated steam from cold water in 1A hours to 5 lbs. pressure. It is good steam coal, no 3moke, little clinker, and contains little sulphur. COROMANDEL, Wednesday. There is very little special mining news. Some nice gold has been got on a piece of ground adjoining the New Green Harp, Waikoromiko district. In the Tokatea a small parcel of specimens from the stopes in the Bismarck level have been obtained. The Three Brothers have got another addition to the quantity of picked and specimen stone on hand. The specimens from the black reef in the Union Beach continue, aud there is no abatement in either the size or character of the lode. In the Green Harp, the intersection of a large body of stone, seven feet through, in the upper portion of this property, is a matter of considerable importance to the fortunate shareholders. The meeting of the Wesleyan body was unanimously favourable to the retention of Mr. Dewsbnry. The Miranda, from Maefarlane's Mill, and the cutter Fanny, from Harris's Mill, Whangapoua, cleared out on Saturday, with shipments of timber for Auckland. The weather is again broken.
