HEREFORD CATTLE.
A " Country llkadku" requests us to publish the following letter addressed to the .Sydney 7'oiuu mid Country Journal:— " S' 1 ', —It may perhaps be a consolation to the much-abused cattle judges of the late Sydney show, to know that, in awarding the champion prize to a Hereford, they committed nothing singular, as their example has, in a manner, been followed in England at the last liat-h and West of England meeting, second only, I believe, to the Koyal. The prizes for the best bull and for the best cow oil the ground went to the Devons, beating, amongst other celebrated .Shorthorns, Mr. Outhwaite's ever victorious cow " Vivandiere," and Lady Pigots' two famous ones "Victoria Yietrix" and "Pose of Wytham." _ The reporter of the Fanner*' Mmjazine. dilfers in opinion from the judges, in thinking that the Herefurds should have taken the extra prizes, and not the Devons. Also at the Royal Cornwall Society's meeting, the prize for the best cow in tile yard was given to a Devon, and for the best buli to a Shorthorn.—l am, sir, Jajiim D, Cox."
