The California Mininy and Scicnlific Press says:—"A recent invention makes it possible I to send four messages simultaneously in opposite directions over a single telegraph wire. j If four, why not 44 The manager of a country theatre, peeping through the curtains between the acts, was surprised by a glimpse of the empty benches. "Why, good gracious !" said lie, turning to the prompter, "where is the audience?" "lie just stepped out to get a mug of beer," was the brief reply. A good way to clean black gloves that are soiled, turned white, and otherwise injured, is to take a teaspoonful of salad oil, drop a few drops of ink in it, and rub it over the gloves with the tip of a feather ; then let them dry in the sun. black kid boets and slippers can be restored to their original gloss by this method.
