THE POLYNESIAN SCHEME.
To die Editor of the Hfc.KAi.ii. Stti, —There is an old ami very just saying, " Honor to those to whom honor is due," which. to my mind, is very explicable in refer-n :.-e to -Mr. Coleman I*}ii]l• j>s'.i Polynesian scheme. ill'. Coleman Plnliipj originate 1 the Polynesian trading .'-cheme, and the matter before the Hon. Mr. Yogci, and now v. - e find other gentlemen aie desirous of participating with him in the credit which is due to him as originator of sue!: scheme. I observed in the pamphlet publi-bed by Mr. Rees that Mr. Steriulalc and Mr. AV. J. Hunt are mentioned in connection with the Polynesian scheme, which 1 consider unfair, as those gentium!.;; were in 110 way connected with the matter, ami it is unjust that Mr. Phillips should be deprived of the originality of tliis great .scheme through the desire of people to have their names imported into it. Mr. Phillips deserves the thanks of the Auckland public for ing endeavoured to develop the valuable tr;.de of the Pacilic Islands, which trade will eie long be of vast importance to the port of Auckland and the whole colony.— 1 au: ; &c., -1 1'STICE. Au-k'.and, October 2G, 1374. I
