POLICE COURT.—Tuesday.
[Before Dr. Ilorne anil D. Luckie, Ecqs., Justices.] Larceny.—Tom, a Kanaka, pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing a pair of trousers, value 3s, the property of Andrew lleavey, and Was sentenced to seven days' imprisonment with hard labour. Master ash Servants Act.—Patrick Robb, a boy about I,~> years of age, was chargcd with having unlawfully absented himself from the employment of Mr. Shove, butcher. The evidence in the case having been taken, at the suggestion of the Bench it was adjourned until Friday next, in order that an amicable arrangement might be come to, and the interference of the Court rendered unnecessary. Merchant Sinri'iNc Act. —Alfred Nicholls was charged under the above Aet with the non-payment of wages. This case was, 011 the application of Mr. Rees, adjourned until to-day, as lie believed it probable that the question might bo settled out of Court.
