DOMAIN BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Domain Board was held in the Mayor's room of the City Council Olfices, at 110011 yesterday. The following members were present :—His Worship the Mayor (in the chair), Messrs. J. Mitford, and S. E. Hughes. MINUTES. The minutes of last meeting were read and adopted. BOWLING-GROUND, Mr. Hughes reported having, in company with Mr. Fentou, waited upon the Commissioners of Crown Lands relative to the bow-ling-green land, and that the matter was under consideration, but nothing definite had been done. THE DOMAIN. Mr. Chalmers's report informed the B»ard that during the past year he had planted 12,000 trees in various parts of the Domain, more than 2CO of which were plants of native trees. In accordance with instructions a piece of land had been fenced off and a pond made, and the enclosure would be planted with trees upon the first favourable oppoi jr.nifcy. FENCING. A letter from the Provincial Government was read, in which the intention of the Government to erect a fence between the Hospital and Domain gronnd was set forth.—The Board agreed to ask permission to have the fencing done, the Provincial Government to contribute one-half of the expense thus incurred. APPLICATION. An application from Mr. Morrison for an extension of the lease of allotment No. 11 of the Domain reserve was disallowed. ACQUISITION OI LAND. The Board, in reply to an application made for the conveyance to them of the portion of the Hospital Endowment authorised by vote of the Provincial Council, received a letter from the Superintendent's office, requesting that they should accept only a portion of the Land authorised for conveyance, as the whole of it was not required. The opinion expressed in the letter was approved, and on the motion of Mr. Hughes it was agreed to accept the piece of ground marked pink on the plan. RENT OF WATER-WORKS. Tlie deed of the Domaiu Water-works, v/liich has been for some time missing, the secretary announced had been recovered, and he read a letter from His Honor the Super"'itendent, informing the Board that the Provincial Treasurer had been authorised to p-y the Board the sum of £250 due as rent, and that in future the rent would be paid halfyearly.
ACCOUNT'S. Tlie usual monthly accounts were read and ordered to be paid. This concluded the business.
