QUEEN'S REDOUBT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

I This new building was formally opened on Sabbath last, by the Rev. T. Norrie, who preached a suitable discourse from the 2nd verse of the S7th Psalm. Notwithstanding the unfavourable weather there was an attendance of about eighty people, including a good muster of the residents and also families from the neighbouring districts. The preacher illustrated the advantages of public worship, and enforced the duty and privilege of attending upon it, and congratulated the congregation oa the increased facilities for doing so by the erection of a suitable and commodious place of worship. Thanks were tendered to Mr. Porter and his various tenants for their kindness in giving the temporary use of a room for the services when there was no place of meeting. A collection was made at the close of the service for the building fund, which amounted to the sum of £5 10s. A small debt still remains, but the subscriptions still expected, and the soiree which is intended to be held as the season advances, will likely clear this off. The building reflects credit on .Mr. Dougal, who drew out the plan ; the contractor, Mr. Clarke; the building committee, and all concerned.—[Correspondent, Ist Sept.]
