oruiviinw. BETTING- ON THE MELBOURNE CUF. The Australasian of the 22nd reports Rather more business lias been clone about the Cup than the Metropolitan, but on both events the betting is extremely languid. In this race, also, Goldsbrough is in the proud position of first favourite, and 100 to 12 would be eagerly accepted, but the bookmakers have stopped laying against him for the present. The Arrow is in fair request, and business has been done about hiui at 100 to 8. Fitz-Yattcndon is improving in public estimation, and he has been backed several times lately at 100 to 5. A very few others have been backed at outside prices. For the double of Metropolitan and Cup the favourite pair are Horatio and Goldsborough, but this double is not to be had for love or money, as one o£ the few bookmakers replied when asked the price. In all other doubles where the favourites are selected the price has been raised to ICO to 10.
