CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. A thunderstorm occurred on Friday night, but was not heavy in Christchurch. Reports from the northern parts of the prov'ice, however, shew that houses and other property were slighty damaged, but no lives lost.

It is rumoured on good authority that the Mayor of Ckristcliurch intends, before the expiratiou .'if his term of office in November, to invite tLe Premier to a banquet.
