The ranges were : for the first clars, 300, 500, and 600 yards ; and for the second class, 300, 400, and 500 yards. The following arc the prizewinners :—

The Colonel liad all the arrangements connected with the firing left to him. Twelve of the best shots were handicapped from six points downwards. The shouting was good on the whole, and the weather was favourable. The firing commenced at 11 a.m., under the management of the Colonel. The handicapping was done by deducting pointß from the better shots ; but it was thought it would be fairer to add points to the indifferent ones. Tho highest score was made by Cornet Earriball; 47 points out of a possible 50. The Colonel fired himself, starting without any penalty, and subsequently won the clock with a good score of 46, including hits, out of a possible 50. Captain Hamlin acted as scorer, and Sergeant-Major Holland and Mr. Gainsford as markers at the butts. Tho ranges were 150 and 200 yards, five shots at each range, no" trial shots; position, firßt range standing, the other any ;—target 6 x 4, centre, 4x2; bulls eye, 2xl. I annex the scores and the number of points, the different competitors were handicapped :—

Immediately after the aboye, the Colonel being so delighted with bia firing, challenged

Sergeant Hedge to fire him for a cup, five shots at 200 yards, which was accepted, and won by the latter with 19 points out of a possible 20, the Colonel making 16. Not yet being satisfied, he challenged tho champion Douglas for another cup, three shots at the same range, which was won by Douglas with 11 points out of a possible 12. Another match was arranged between the Colonel, Captain Harris, Hodge, and Douglas. This was five shots at 200 yards standii.g, and won by Captain Harris with 18 points.
