January 25. Mr. Gγ. W. Binney held yesterday at his Corn Exchange an extensive sale of cheese, hams, bacon, &c. The attendance was good and competition brisk. The following prices were received : —Canterbury cheese, 4Jd per lb. j 10 kegs butter, 3jd to s£d per lt>. ; 2 cases Gilmour's hams and bacon, 4\d to 9d per lb. •, Peacock's tins jams, Os 44 per dozen (fur 20 cases) ; do. jar jams, s\d per lb. ; tart fruits, 9s per dozeu : 1,50(1 lbs. hams and bacon, in lots to suit purchasers, 4d to 4jd per lb. Messrs. Tonks and Co. held to-day, ut the auction room, au extensive sale of groceries, oilraon's stores, teas, &c. The attendance of the trade was good, and competition brisk. January 27. Mr. H.. Arthur reports at Ins market day auction sale yesterday he sold fowls from Is 4J to 3s each ; ducks, Is 2d to Is 6d ; [reeso, 3s 3d to 4s 6d ; pigeons, 10d ; rabbits, Is Cd ; onions, lid to 2d per pound ; potatoes, 5s to 5s Gd per cwt; beef, 2d to 2.U1 per pound ; bacon, 2d to 4Ad, job lots ; cheese, 2d to 3d ; raisins, 2.Vd j jams, no brand, 4s 7d to 4s 10d per dozen. Furniture, &c, but little sold, iu consequence of the arrival of the mail st.'aiuer Nebraska, with a large consignment of fruit, which was Bold at the following prices : — Oranges, 12s to 15s per case ; Seville, do. ]3s ; passion fruit, 6s 6d ; lemons, 10s 3d to 10s 9d ; grapes, 3£-d to 6Jd per pound ; pears, 14d to 2d ; plums, 3d to 4id ; apples, 2£d to 3d ; Bay of Islands aud AucUlaud years, ljil to 2d per pound. February 1. At Messrs. E. and 11. Isaacs' sale to-ciuy, there was a full attendance of the trade. Bidding for most of the goods very languid, but on the whole the pi-ices realised must be considered fair. A large quantity of the goods advertised were sold, but none of the glue3ware was submitted, the trade not appearing inclined to buy. The goods sold amounted to about £400, aud all was offered in trade parcels.

Messrs. Cochrane and Sou submitted to public competition to-day, by order of the mortgagee, the stock-in-trade, goodwill, and lease of premises of Mi - . B. N. Jliitiley. The bidding only came up to £370. The property was withdrawn at £420.

Mr. G. Binneysold to-day, at bis Exchauge Rooms, a consignment of fruit, ex City of Adelaide, which realised the following prices : —Apples, lid to 2jd per lb.; pears, 2ii per lb.; oranges, 13s 6J per case ; grapes, 2£-d to 8d per 11). ; passion fruit, 43 Cd per case.

At Mr. Siubiu'e auction mart, to-duy, some hundreds of cases of fruit were disposed of, ut the following pricee : —Apples, 2£d to 3d per lb ; pears, 2Jd to 4d per lb.; peaches, 2s 9d per case; pine apples, 3s 9d to 4s per dozen ; grapes, VA'l to 8d per lb. ; oranges, 12s per case.

Mr. R. Arthur held an auction sale of fruit to-day, at his auction mart. The attendance was good, and bidding brisk. The following are the quotations :—Grapes, 2d to Od per lb.; pear 3, ] Jd to 3d per lb. ; pine apples, 3s 3d to 3s Od per dozen ; apples, 2.Jd to 3d per ib. Also, sold yesterday—Canterbury bacon, 7Jd to SJd per il>. ; ditto hums, Sd tu 9d per lb. ; oatmeal, £15 per ton. Mr. a. Jones held u clearing-out sale of groceries, kerosene, &c. Arthur reporte that the following prices were realised at his market-day auction sale yesterday : —Fowls, Is 3d to 2s Sd each ; Spanish, 3s to 6s each; young birds, 10d to Is Id ; ducks, Is 5d to Is 9d ; peacocke, 6s 6d ; young cock canarie3 and cage 3, 18s each; potatoes, 3s 3d to 5s 6d per cwt.; onions, ljd to ljd per lb.; Auckland apples, 2£d to 24d ; Sydney, 2id ; bacon and hams, job lots, 3d to 7d ; butter, 4£d to 7d ; cheese, ljd to 4d ; jams (Peacock's) 4s Sd per dozen ; tea, in halfcheats, assorted, Is to Is 2£d per lb.; Auckland oatmeal, ljd per lb. Household furniture and effecte at moderate prices. Au average amount of business was done, although tho attendance was not large.

February 13. Messrs. W. G. Harrison and Co. report having sold by auction to-day, on account of whom it may concern, ex Ferndale, Blood, vVolf, and Go's bottled stout (quarts), damaged, 7s. per dozen, cash. February 15. Messrs. W. G. Harrison and Co. report a large attendance of buyers, and considerable parcels quitted at average prices at their drapery trade sole this day. February IG. At Mr. L. W. Eaton's sale of fruit today, ex Hero, the followins prices were realised : —Peare, lid to 2jd psr lb. ; oranges, lis 6d per easa; apples, IJ-α to 3d per lb.; pine apples, 3s 9d to 4s per dozen ; peaches, 2s per cane ; grapes, 2Jd per lb.

The following are the prices : —Fowls, Is 3d to 3s Id each ; no ducks in ; geese, 3j 9d to 4s ; pigeons, lid each ; potatoes, 3s 9d to 53 6d per cwt. : onions, Id to ljd per lb. ; Kevr Zealand apples, 2d to 2id ; pears, 3d to 2£d; Auckland oatmeal, lid per lb.; halfchests tea, Is 2d per lb. ; Canterbury hams and bacon, in trade lines, SJd to 9d ; bacon, 7Jd to 9jd per lb. ; Auckland bacon, job lots, 4id to SJJ ; butter, second quality, 6d per lb. ; jams, Peacock's, 4s 7d per dozen. Furniture, &c, sold at fair prices. This day's sale of a lurge shipment of fruit, ex s.s. Ilero, was largely attended, but the bidding was dull for all except oranges and lemons, of which there were but few cases. The following are the prices : —Oranges, 16s to ISs ; lemons, 21s per case ; peaches, Is 3d to Is 9d per quarter-case s pears, lid to 2d per lb. ; apples, ljd to 2d per lb. ; onions, lid to lid per lb.
