It appears that an lidividual who liad been staying some two or thne day* at the hotel in question, left the house en the evening referred to, expressing an intention ol going to the theatre. After he* had left some uidefined suspicion that all was n °j ottered Mr. Stackpole's mind, and he preceded upstairs to niako all sure. On entering his beiroom he discovered that one of tlie small drawer of n chest had been broken open, and a Hum >f money nmouutiio to £45, and Jswellery to the value ol £55 had been absvactcd. He immediately informed the police ol the occurrcneo, and sttps were at once tafen to endeavour to trace the robber, but hiherto they have been withoit success. It wilibe remembered that not nany months sine Mr. Stackpolo's licensed house was burnt dowi resulting in heavy pecuniary loss to him, ynd lie was only just getting confortably vouuongain when he agaiu meets wit'i. a most seriou: misfortune. In the meantimo the police t- e on the alert, and it will be arrange indeed,\f sooner or later, they do not reader an nccoiifc of the rascal.
