Experienced fresh liead winds and easterly swell to East Cape, "which was rounded at 3 a.m. on the sth ; thence to Tauracga had light north-west •winds and fine weather. Arrived at Te Papa at 6.45 p.m. on the sth, and landed lieutenant—Colonel Frascr. Left at 7.30 p.m. same day, and had. light northerly winds and fine weather, arriving in harbour at noon. Passed the p.s. Coomerang oil the East Cape at 3.30 a.m. on the sth. The s.s. Keera was to leave Xapier for Auckland on the 4th instant. The vessel signalled on Sunday evening made the harbour at an early hour yesterday morning, and proved to be (lie bYigantitie Stranger, Captain Puton, from Newcastle, with a full cargo of coal for the Auckland Gas Company, having made a good run across of nine days. She left Newcastle on the 2GHi ■ultimo, and experienced strong westerly winds across to the Kings, which were made on Thursday last. She was becalmed for thirt-v six hours, and has since had light northerly ■winds. The barque Ely Whitney, from Newcastle to San Francisco, was spoken about fifteen miles to the East ot the North Cape. Messrs. Stone Brothers arc agents ior the Stranger. The s.s. Star of the South left the harbour last evening, /or Napier, with a few and several passengers. A steamer was signalled inside of Tiritiri last evening. It is supposed to bo the Kceva gone into the Tamaki or Jvohimarima. The schooner Leonidas, from the B.iv of Tslanc's, with 05 tons coal, 2 tons gum*, ]0 bales wool, G hides, 5 empty casks, and the following passengers-.—Mrs. and MissStophen. son, Master Steptouson, Mr. W.
