MOUJTT ALBERT HIGHWAY MEETING, At the annual meeting held yesterday at tha Whan Boad the following gentlemen were elected trustees of the district for the ensuing v eu namely, Messrs. The annual meeting of the electors of the Pakuranga Highway District was held at Brady's Hotel, Howicfc, yesterday afternoon at two o'clock, for the purpose of striking a rate and electing trustees. . The following gentlemen were e ited auditors Mr. J. White and Colonel Peacooke; and the followlng. gentlemen were elected trustees:—Hessra.White, Smith] Corlett, B, Andrews, sen., and Mclnnerny. A rate of threepence per acre was struok, and the meeting then separated.

HOWIOK TOWNSHIP HIGHWAY DISTBIOT.

The annual meeting of the electors of the Howick Township Highway District was held at Brady's Hotel, Howick, yesterday evening, "at seven o'clock, for the purpose of electing trustees . &nd. levying a rate for the ensuing twelve months. Mr. j. B. Grew occupied the chair, and opened the meeting by read" ing the balance sheet of the district, which shewed a balance of £1 Os. 6d. in hand, Bince which time a sum of 53. 2d. of rates had been collected, leaving & balance of £1 53. BcL in hand. The books were not before the - meeting, as the chairman, Mr. Jackson, was unavoidably absent. ■ • r * White thought that as the books were not before the meeting, they could do nothing, and he would therefore propose the adjournment of the meeting for a week, in order to give the trustees an opportunity of producing the books. The motion was seconded by Dr. Hovwt.t. Several persons spoke at once, and caused ft great confusion, after which the motion was put and negatived. • r "

Dr. Hovell and Mr. Culvert were elected auditors to audit the accounts for the past year.- ■ — It was remarked that the auditors would have vary little trouble, as there -was only a sum of 5s 2d to count orer.

The following gentlemen were elected trustees for the ensuing year:—Messrs. Crewe, MoGinnii, Mackay, Dunn, and Plews. A rate of one shilling per acre was then levied, after which the meeting separated. The meeting _ throughout was a' scene of diaturbance and noise,—such a one ss vre have rattly before witnessed. '
