BEETHAM, WALEEE, AND CO.'s REPOBT. 1 The wretched weather of the past week has not H produced that decrease we expected in the number of US speculators. There haß been a constant demand for >§ sleeping half and quarter shares, for which enquiries jg are beginning to be made also from Melbourne and is Sydney. A considerable sum of money has already I been forwarded to us from those places for investment, I and we are promised further remittances. S We should caution parties in purchasing direct p from shareholders to be careful of whom and from :| whom they buy. In the absence of any title, and > without a knowledge of the claim, it is not easy to |j ascertain the real ownership of the share. A man |i disposed of a stare a few weeks ago,and it now tram- a pires that the seller had no direct interest in the Sj claim. It has also come to our knowledge that lev- a eral large sums have been paid direct to the share- Ij holders for interests in claims whose locality, |i quantity of quartz, and reputed richness do not war- B rant the exnenditure. On another matter we wonld 9 put the public on their guard. Many claims have g| names so nearly alike, that the unwary are apt to be S§ deceived, some indeed so similar as to create constant a confusion. There are two claims on the field named 1 Hand-in-Hand. two Union .Tacks, a Star of the I North and a North Star, a Bendigo and a Bendigo 1 Independent, a Harp of Erin and a Harp and Eagle, I gad All Nations, and a Hope of All Nations, and | many others. Good ground is being discovered every day. The richness of a portion of this field we believe to bfl unsurpassed. Not three days ago the alreadj fortunate owners of the Star of the South, in levelling a piece of ground for a tent, discovered close to the surface a leader of extraordinary richnes. There has also been rich ground discovered at Tapu Creek, and on the right hand branch of the Tararu a rush has taken place this week. We have disposed, amongst others, of a full share in. the Bendigo Independent for £170; an equal half-share in the Deep Lead, for £150; a sleeping half-share in Metthie's Pnriri, for £40; a sleeping |I half-share in the flying Cloud, £60 ; and a sleeping Eg quarter in the Two Fingered, £50.
