PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT GAZETTE.
A Provincial Goveenjient Gazette was published late last eyeniag, extracts from which-will be found in another part of this issue. The Gazette contains a notification by his Honor the Superintendent, amalgamating the Highway Districts of Matakana East and Matakana West as one district, under the Highways Act; the Thistle Act, is brought into operation in ilie Mount Wellington District; Messrs. D. B. McDonald, and J. G. Hutchinson, are appointed Highway Trustees for the Whaingaroa District, in the room of others who have resigned ; Mr. J. Hobday is appointed Highway Trustee for the District of Mongonui, and Mr. J. Brown, collector to the Wliangarei Highway Board. The Gazette also contains a notification to tho effect that Mr. T. Horsbrugli has ceased to hold the appointment of Inspector of sheep and cattle for the district of Tauranga; appoints Mr. J. L. Tole to be Mining Jlcgistrar for the Thames Gold-field from the Ist instant ; Messrs. J. Breen and D. Beere to be Mining Surveyors of the same district, Messrs. W. Hayner, M.R.C.S., and J. Henry, Surgeon, to be Medical Officers for the Districts of Raglan and Franklin respectively, under the " Vaccination Act, 1803." Mr. David Stevenson's tender for the supply of bread for the hospital has been accepted, as also has Mr. R. Hales' tender for the supply of lockup rations. The schedule of assessment of the Weiti highway district is published for general information; also, notice of times and places of sitting of the Native Lands' Court.
