POLICE COURT.—SATURDAY.
(Before Thamas Beckham, Esq., K.M.) DrTTnS2XXFss.—One drunkard was fined 10a. and the costs for a second offence. Yagranxt.—James Heaton was changed with a breach. <1' the Vagrant Act, by having no Tisiblo means of support.—Prisoner said Sir. Weaver ha paid his to Kngland. However, he was cnab'e to tell by what fhip his passage had been paid.—Constable Foster deposed that about 1 o'clock on Friday rnorriine; he found the prisoner lying asleep in ar old i-hed behind the Coach and Horses Hotel. The prisoner hai no lawful means of support.—His Worship sentenced the prisoner to one month's imprisonient. Threatening Language.—Thomas Wil'iams and Hugh George wer-e brought up charged with having on the 2Gth March, utd thr>atening and abusive language towards one Thomas Downes, mister of the schooner Percy, to the effect that they would take hie life. — 1 noma? Pownes, deposed, that the prisoners had been seamen on board the vessel, but were discharged on the mon ing of the 25th March. About 11.30 o'clock witness was coming out of the Custom House after pat in g the men on his articles, when the priicw Williams laid hands on him by the shoulders. »nd said " Why don't you pay me?" Prisoner Williams dragged him back. Prosecutor said, "Why do you use such violence towards me." Prisoner Williams said, "' I will have your life." Both men then followed him as far as Jones's passage, and witness had to call upon a Government officer lor protection, who accompanied him to the Police Office. Crossexamined by prisoner Williams: I did not tell you ts go to hell for your wages.—Henry Parker, a messenger in the Custom House, gave corroborative testimony. The men were very violent.—His Worship ordered the prisoners to Snd two sureties of £10 each to keep the peace for fourteen days. This concluded the business.
