It will be observed pat the population of the city has increased by jOO. being an advance of one-fourth on the population of ISG4, and tbat the population of {he whole Province has exactly doubled during the three years :— Males. There is a decrease of 2873 males, and an increase of 2334 females, the difference showing the net decrease as given above. Of course the removal of so many males is a srreat loss to the producing capacity of the province. The following figures show Otago's population for the two periods : — Males Females Total.
