Our adviceß this mail inform us of the home market being overstocked, and prices have a downwar tendency ; sales are not easily effected, and trade dull, we may therefore expcct that tho prices were will lower some £2 or £3 per ton very soon. Report also speaks of a large quantity laiely imported of an inferior quality, light, chalky, and spongy. "Wo piesume this will be tho Papa ura gum. MR. ALFRED BUCKLAND'S WEEKLY EEPOET. At the Haymarket on Saturday last fodder was in full supply, and sold more freoly than for several weeks. It brought from 3s 3d to ds 3d tho cwt. Maize 5s to 5s 3d the bushel. Horse stock continues dull of sale. The property of Mr. T. S. Georgo, at Remuera, brought £555. At tho Triangle, on Tuesday, there was a full muster of stock. Grown steers brought from £G to £0 15s. Dairy £12 10s to £17 15a each. 1500 merino wethers from 7s to lis 6d, averaging about is 9d each. Long-woolled lambs, 12s 6d eacb. At Mr. H. 8. Andrews' sale, at Mangare, there was a numerous attendance, and the stock sold freely, at full rates. i At Remuera, on Thursday, tho weather was very inclement. There was a large number of dairy cattle penned, prices were lower, 40s per head, and several animals wore withdrawn. Grown steers, in fresh condition, were betflr worth, 10s per head. About the usual number of fat cattlo were penned,* but unless of very choice quality, the prices offered were very low, and the greater number were withdrawn. In fat sheep there was a considerable improvement, averaging about 3s per head. Store half-bred hoggetts brought from 16s to 22s each. Pigs offered in less number than for some weeks; prices were without alteration. MESSES. VT. lIUN'TEH ANT" CD. Have to report that their Horse Sale at the Bazaar Yards, on Saturday last, was well attended. About twenty-five horses changed hands. Hacks and light harness horses at slightly improved prices-; heavy draught and plough horses, from £16 to £23. Saddlery sold well.

At their salo at Newmarket, on Monday last, fat nnd store stock sold at about last week's prices dairy cows wore in great request, and realized good prices, ranging from £12 to £18 10s. Thero was a good Bhow of sheep in tho Market, all of which were bought by consumers ; merino wethor-i fetching from 3s to 4s 6d each. Thero was a good supply of fat and storo pigs, which sold at fair pricos. At Otahuhu on Tuesday hi9t, two to three year old steers sold, at from £0 2s Gd to £7 17s Gd each; dry cows, from £5 los to £0 los each; a lot of weaned calves fetched £2 17-s Gd each ; two horses were sold, one at 30s, tho other at £3 17s Gd.

AUCKLAND STOCK AND SHARE MABKET. Mil. KGADF.II WOOD'S WEEKLY HEPOItT. Tho sharo market exhibits signs of general improvement; both Bank of New Zealand shares and Was shares havo advanced in price. I havo sold several parcels of Hank of New Zealand shares this week at £16 10s. Gas shares have boon sold at £5 5?. -In Gold Mining shares there is nothing doing. Reauek Wood. MELBOURNE. Wo have been obligingly furnished with the following trado circular, received by Mr. D. Balharry hy tho last mail. WOOLI,KY AND CO.'a CIECDTAR. Tn tho interval which bus elapsed sinco wo forwarded our last dated 27tli ult.,tho freight market lias not experienced much change, and if anything, rates have advanced and now remain firm at our quotations. Tho demand for tonnago has boon chiolly for ships to load coal for India, Java, Manila, China, San Francisco, and tho Mauritius, and during tho latter part of tho month suitablo vessels have been enquired for to load whoat for England, but tho ratos offering have not been such as to load business. Tho transactions liavo not been very numerous owing to tho scarcity of tonnage, but, nevertheless, aro to a fair extent, and those reported may be considered of a satisfactory character to the owners. For London.—Although no vessels have been got to load breaclstulls exclusively for England, the liners liavo lately sccured wheat or flour sufficient for their requirements. Tho lfeigate and Highflyer each took away about 250 tons, and tho Norfolk and Devano, tho sole occupants of the berth at prosent, have engaged 250 and 150 tons respectively. For Gullo.—The Kato "Winifred proceeds thither via Newcastle, whero sho is to load coal, under homo charter. The St. Louis secured a similar freight here. For Calcutta. —Tho Medusa takes up 100 horses and 300 tons copper. The Castlemaino takes up coal and has sailed for Newcastle. For Bombay.—Tho Yanda and Mniblumo arrived horo under engagement to tako on coal from Newcastle. A cargo of horses is awaiting shipment here for Bombay, but hitherto no suitable vessel has bora availablo for this freight. For Java.—Tho Isabella and Underlandhavo sailed henco via Newcastle. For Manila. —Tho Caesiterides takes lip coal from Newcastle, and is engaged to load back for Melbourne with sugar and homp. For Shanghai.—Xl io Thomas Brown is the only charter made hero this month for coal. For Hong Kong.—Tho Princess of Wales and Goetho •were chartered here to load in Newcastle, as also tho Venezuela to load in Sydney. Tho charterers of tho latter named, have, however, tho option of sending lier to Ningpo. For San Francisco—Tonnage is wanted but no business has been done. For tho Mauritius —The Formosa and Eva Joshua sailed in ballast, and are to be followed by tho Elizabeth. Tonnage thither with coal is in request. For Maldon Island—Ships aro wanted to load guano for tho United Kingdom.
